November 16, 2015 – Week 58

Hey Mom and Dad and Bloggers and Family from all parts of the States and Dad’s Aunt that’s probably in Africa right about now:

This week has been really good actually. Me and my companion have solved just about all of our problems and everything is perfect. After a 2 hour companionship inventory everything was solved and good, and also after a lot of tears, but it’s all good and my companion is like my best friend. After this transfer we are getting switched, but he is coming down to his final stretch so he will be getting transferred here pretty soon. But it is what it is. I talked to the presidente about this whole situation, he pretty much just told me to deal with it and that Joseph Smith went through even worse situations and I should be more like him. I understand his point of view and he’s got a point and is my president.

We have been getting several people ready for there baptisms this week and we should be having several in the month of December.  Hopefully all goes really well so that these 7 people can get baptized. One of them is named V**** the guy I told you about earlier. We visited him this week and he told us a lot about his stories of him in the Mexican mafia in the jails up there in Michigan and other jails here in Mexico. He was a really bad dude, but the gospel of Jesus Christ can change people and we have seen this change in him. I’m just hoping that the First Presidency allows him to be baptized since he’s had so many problems.
Everyone here is getting ready for the temple open house and it’s a marvelous experience that we have to be able to take part in this event. Here in San Felipe we are going to the temple on the 28th of November.
We are really really excited to attend the open house this month! Also hopefully the Americans here put on a Thanksgiving dinner for us for the up coming Thursday or whenever the turkey day is. I really miss having those ward turkey bowls. Hopefully I can put together one down here in Mexico but play soccer instead because that’s what they like more down here. Today I received your Christmas present and I will be sending it soon along with my camera memory card with like 1000 pics on it.
Also here’s a message to the birthday girl:
Hey lauren its your older brother Darin – I know tomorrow is your birthday and I have not forgot I promise! I remember when I turned 16 and I had a pretty solid birthday party with all my swag hahahahaha just kidding! Don’t be kissing and dating too many dudes now that you can!!! JUST KIDDING, do it but not too much because it upsets your mother 🙂 because you are still her baby! Anyways I love you so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so much and hope you have the bestest birthday and send me a pic of your license when you get the chance I wanna see it! Love you Lauren (:

November 9, 2015 – Week 57

I really enjoy the month of October and November because I like the fall colors, but the only fall colors I get to enjoy here is the color of sand and brown because everything is dead and dried out. First of all y’all didn’t tell me who won the Tennessee game the other day, so hopefully it means it was them or you just don’t want to tell me the bad news. I’m so stoked that Jeff Gordon has clinched the 1st spot of the chase standings. I will be so freaking happy if he wins it as it is his last year in his career. He usually does really really well at the Homestead Miami Speedway so I really hope that he will get the win and the checkered flag!! It’s a bummer that I will not be there to see such a victory.
Anyways things are doing a lot lot better here in San Felipe, but with my companion kinda so but who knows, I give up with him the president said hes going to be changing us but not until after the transfer but well see. Hopefully I can stay here in San Felipe because I really like it here and I enjoy everything about this área.
Tomorrow, well tonight we are headed to Mexicali for a misisonary conference and then tomorrow well be coming back so we aren’t going to be getting too much done these days. Then I have to go to Tijuana soon to renew my visa becasue you have to do it every year and now I’m more than past the year mark.  We will be heading down there once again the following Saturday for the temple open house and I am so freaking excited to be able to go to it! I cannot wait it’s going to be absolutely amazing!! I will definitely send y’all pictures from this excellent experience I will have. I absolutely cannot wait, I am stoked!!!!
Dad, college basketball is about to be starting up so I will need scores from that as well!! Love all of you and I hope y’all have a great week!

November 2, 2015 – Week 56

Hey everyone from all sides of the world, bloggers and my family,

This week has been a great week and the start of a new transfer. I am now in my 10th transfer in the mission which is pretty crazy because I never knew it would be here this fast. I now have less than 11 months in the mission and time is going by really really fast!

Anyways this week was really great. We had a trunk or treat activity in the church on Thursday and a costume contest. It was a blast and there were a lot of people that showed up to it as well. It was a good turnout. Also there were a lot of people that brought candy, but I don’t really want to say it was trunk or treat since no one has cars because they can’t afford them. It was a great activity though.

Then on Saturday we had a youth conference and we had to help with it because they needed our help. We taught the youth on how they can be missionaries now. It went great and then they played sports and stuff and we ate lunch there and it was really great! We had to be in the house by 5:30 because for whatever reason it gets really dangerous here. Not so much here in San Felipe because there is a crap ton of gringos, but in other places they throw rocks and eggs at people that are in the street. But anyways we had to obey.

All is going well here in San Felipe, just sometimes i have problems with my companion but it is helping to prepare me for the future with my wife. And by the way it will be within a couple months after my mish hahaha just to let y’all know! I have a dope surprise for y’all for Christmas and you are going to love it! I’m sending y’all a Christmas package through the Mexican mail system and it should get there by Christmas time haha but I’m not going to send it until a good bit because I don’t have it all together still but y’all will love it and there will be stuff in there for Grandma and Pawpaw as well. I’m getting pretty excited for this Christmas and to be able to talk to you guys.

Today we finally bought gas and we can now have hot showers. I took about a 40 minute hot shower because I haven’t had a hot shower in about 6 months and I definitely enjoyed it. Also about a month ago I fell on my back while throwing a football around and now I have back problems. I need a chiropractor, but there is not one here in San Felipe. There is an American here that gave me some pills from the other side but I’m starting to have some back issues and it bothers me a lot and I’ve been having it for like 3 weeks. On the good side my ingrown toenail went away – I took it out myself with nail clippers and my hands and it kinda just grew out! I hope all of you have a great week this week and I’ll talk with you again the following Monday and soon at Xmas! LOVE Y’ALL!

October 26, 2015 – Week 55

Hey everyone,

This week was transfers and I am staying in San Felipe again for the 2nd time and it’s awesome. I’m still with the same companion and it’s getting better (mostly because I think I need to have a better attitude about things), but I really feel like this week is going to get a lot better and we will have a great transfer this 6 week period.

The Holland experience was great! He didn’t just give a talk for like 2 hours, he got down off the podium and he walked all around us speaking to us as misisonaries about how we can never be the same. We need to have our conversion strong and keep it firm in Christ! It’s something that I always want to have. We got really pumped up from his talk and it made us repent of all of our wrong doings and to start over again and to work harder and to do better in the mission.
One thing Bishop Maughan always taught me when he was our young men’s preisdent is every time we are not doing so well and we sin or we just keep messing up, we can start over – have a reset button on our life. That’s what me and my companion are going to do right now. We are going to have a reset and to do better as a companionship and in the mission as well. We read a Gene R. Cook talk about Purification and I challenge all of you guys to read it this week and especialy Jordan. This is what me and my compa are going to do so that we can get a better start on things and to do a lot better in the mission. Hopefully Tennessee Vols can have a purification as well! Ha ha We are going to start today and it lasts 40 days and it begins with a fast so that’s what we are going to be doing.
It’s a bummer that the Vols lost. We really should be undefeated and number 1 in college football, but it’s never the same since Manning and Fulmer left. Hopefully we can have a great comeback the end of this season and I’m really happy that Jeff Gordon is still in the chase so hopefully he can win it. Also Joey Logano is awesome! It makes the autographs that I have from him more valuable! hahaha So hopefully this week Jeff and the Vols can both win.
Mom, I thought a lot about my Christmas presents this week and I also want moon pies and some Honeycombs for whatever reason. I don’t know if grandma can make that a gift for me. haha I want a crap ton of moon pies of the banna and chocolate ones and also I want a speaker to listen to music too. There’s one i want called a jambox mini and I want the model orange dot (it’s just an idea and there’s a ipod shuffle in the house and you could send it with the jambox with a bunch of church music on it as well). I would like it but its just an idea and the jambox on Amazon are a lot cheaper.
I hope all of you can have a great week this week and that everything will be good for y’all! Love all of you (:
