July 20, 2015 – Week 41

Hey Mom,

I don’t have much time to write today we are in a hurry, but I love you and I got my package. Thanks so much for that! Unfortunately the camera cord doesn’t work for the camera. It doesn’t fit, but I’m going to look for one here in Mexicali or ask someone to go over to the other side for my cord. This week we have another baptism and it will be awesome!

Anyway,  things are going great and we are working so freaking hard and it is making the time go by so fast.

I don’t have time to write to people today so tell them I’m sorry! I love you (:

July 13, 2015 – Week 40

This week we were blessed to have a baptism.  Her name is Lupita (Guadalupe). We have been teaching her for a long time, like 2 months and we have been doing everything to get her into the waters of baptism and she entered in and I was able to baptize her as well. It was a great experience and I felt the spirit. I am sure that she did as well.  She literally exited the water as a new person.  I really hope that she can work and progress so that one day she can enter in the the Holy Temple to be sealed.

I would send you a picture but my companion doesn’t have a cord either to send pictures :/ So hopefully when the package comes I can send it to you. This week has been really good! Actually we have been so busy and working so hard that we just really didn’t have time to do anything this week, but we worked really really hard this week. We have a lot of stuff to do and we are preparing for 5 more baptisms in the next coming weeks and 4 of them are for the 1st of August.
It is so freaking hot outside and our bikes broke again so we are back to walking. We got the bikes fixed and the day after they broke, so we lose a lot of time walking and some days we walk for like a straight 50 minutes. We have also been taking the buses a lot here as well but they are more expensive than in Tijuana, but right now we are walking for a good bit because we ran out of money. I haven’t eaten all day and I’m pretty hungry, but I drink more and more water and gatorade so it takes the hunger away. We ran out of money like on Thursday so we have been only eating once a day. My companion has been eating toast with peanut butter, but I hate toast and peanut butter so I’m drinking water. I might fast here pretty soon so pray that it will go well because it is really hard to go without water for 24 hours!
“Not on bread only shall man live, but on every word of God,” said Jesus when he was tempted in the desert. But this week has been great! I pray for y’alls well being every day, and that you can resist the temptations of the Devil everyday. I hope all is well and that you can have a great week this week and tell Jordan and Lauren to stay a Book of Mormon legnth away when they are dancing at EFY!  Love y’all (:

July 6, 2015 – Week 39

Hello my dearest family and friends,
I want to tell you all I just got my arm xrayed and at 12:30 I’ll have the results on what happened to it, so hopefully everything is all good. I was biking the other day where the border is and we were headed to an appointment in the middle of the desert and I was riding by the line and there was like this little hill that curved down and there was some little trees and I thought the ground was hard, so i went towards the bottom with my bike and my front tire just sunk in the soft soft sand. I did a front flip off my bike and I landed directly on my arm and this happened Friday and right now it still hurts, so hopefully everything is okay with it. We went to the doctor on Saturday and she gave me some pills and the perscription to get X-rays. I just got the X-rays so we’ll see what happens.
Miracles had happened here this week.  We didn’t have a baptism, but we have someone getting ready and she is going to have her baptism this Friday at 6 o clock which is awesome! We also had 7 investigators in the church!! We have always had like 1 or 2 and no one ever comes but this week we brought 7!!!! And next week hopefully we can have a lot more. We are doing all that is possible to find more and more people to teach and to bring to church. We are working really hard and getting ready for many baptisms and for many miracles this summer in Mexicali and next wednesday I turn 9 months here in the mission! Time is going by really fast. I can’t believe I already have 9 months!! Everything is going great,  I just had that problem with my arm this week.  I also think it’s time again for another one of grandma and paw paw’s care packages. (:
Anyways things are great and I love it here! and by the way you can put the point on the map in Mexicali – there’s a couple of colonies that I’m working, Aztecas, Colosio, Pueblo Nuevo, Mayos, but put Santa Clara because that’s where the church building is.  Love y’all!

June 29, 2015 – Week 37

That’s awesome Dad that Jordan is going to be able to go to youth conference on the 13th or EFY I forget which one it is, but that’s pretty awesome … you should definitely get that doctor’s address and give it as a reference to the missionaries.

Awesome picture of the Temple mom in Sao Paulo, Brasil! That’s awesome that yall have been down there all week, one of my Zone Leaders here in Mexicali lived in that city for 6 years. Sometimes he speaks in Portuguese and I understand Portuguese, not perfectly but I can understand it.  I wanna learn it!
Anyways this week has been a little bit easier on the heat, which has been good, but it’s still a 105 to 110 every day. This week has been pretty funny of what we experienced. We’ve been visiting this family that lives in the desert, a little like the last house in our sector, it takes 45 minutes of walking just to get there and there are these 5 people there that they took in.  They are 5 friends from Honduras and they have traveled up here to Mexicali by riding on cargo trains and boats trying to get to the states. They have tried 3 times and have been caught and deported back to their homeland in Honduras each time. We were there when 2 of them left on Saturday.  They walked to the mountains and then they climbed the fence and jumped it.  They walk really far because they don’t want to cross the American canal. It’s pretty funny  – so right before they left my companion wanted to give them blessing….. he asked me to do it as well, but I refused because I can’t support people doing things illegal. However, my compa went on with it anyway. One of them is staying here a little bit longer so that he can collect a little bit more money so when he crosses he can be a little more set.  We are actually teaching him. He’s 21 years old and has been traveling solo. He’s really cool – I forgot what his name is because it’s a really weird name, but hopefully he can stay here a little bit longer and that he can get baptized and also go to church! He is living with a less active family, that’s how we found him. This less active family has a lot of problems. The dad wants to kill his son and his wife. His son is 29 and he doesn’t sleep because he said if he sleeps his dad will kill his mom, so he pretty much has to protect her all the time. They also asked us to dedicate thier house because they saw a little girl in their house and it freaked them out and the Honduras people saw it and they left running in the middle of the night because they were scared.
Also speaking of little girls.. I was sleeping thursday night and I was drifting off to sleep but wasn’t fully asleep and I woke up to a loud bang.  I then look at the wall in our room where the bathroom door is and I saw a girl standing there.  I was wide awake after hearing the bang and I saw this girl and she was wearing all black and I feel like it is the daughter of the girl that I saw about a month ago, but who knows. I have dedicaded the house like 3 or 4 times and I always feel the presence of evil in the house and that someone is always watching me, other than God, but who knows. I don’t really feel quite safe in the house and I think we are going to change it pretty soon. Today I put a bunch of pictures of Jesus and the temples around the house and on the windows to keep the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the bad spirits out.
Also pray for us because we might have a baptism this week. Her name is Guadalupe! Hopefully she can just feel ready, and hopefully she has asked God! Anyways I think everything will go well for this week! Then in 2 more weeks we have another baptism of this girl who said she wanted to be baptized. Her name is Cruz and she is 13 and it’s awesome! Things are going really well right now and time is going by really fast.
Love all of you! And hope you have a great week.
I have one request… I want y’all to send me stuff to make banana pudding! becasue they dont sell Nilla Wafers or banana pudding flavor pudding mix here in Mexico! Also a camera cord. And also a crap ton of cow tales! Love all of you bye!!!

June 22, 2015 – Week 36

This week has been pretty crazy, we haven’t been finding a lot of new investigators lately, but we’re gonna try this week to find and to teach a lot more people. The people here literally don’t want the restored gospel and it’s really difficult to keep pressing on, but we do anyway.
This week I have 2 experiences, the first one was really weird we were teaching this guy and his friend in his car shop they work together and there is no one else that works with them besides them. The guy shared with us his conversion story to the gospel…. this isn’t our church it’s some other church group, but he said he went to a place with 4 other gospels and 7 other churches and they had some service in a field, really weird, and he said the preist was going around saying prayers in the gift of tounges and then he touched the peoples head. Then he said he saw lights shining out of the peoples head and they would scream and shout and then they would pray to god because they have been healed and then he said after this he had a dream where Jesus came to him and told him to go preach the gospel and then he said that Jesus put his hands in the water and sucked up all the water from this river to get power or something and then he saw him shining and there was like thorns that came down and covered his arms and he just had power, it was something really really really weird what he said. After that we went to go teach this one guy his name is Eduardo, he’s freaking awesome, I contacted him and gave him a card that had pictures of Jesus Christ on it, and he said he saw this before in a dream, he was praying that someone would come teach him to preach the gospel to him, and he said he saw the card and me in his dream and said it was an American and he came to him to teach him English as well. I was shocked and I really felt the spirit.  The other day we went back to go visit him and it was like 8 at night and we were talking for a good bit and this lady came in, one of his friends, and she started talking to us and attacking the church and saying a whole bunch of BS. She just got so pissed and started atacking us with Bible verses and me and my comp were explaining to her what these scriptures mean and it was hilarious because she just made no sense and she was getting PISSED and I was explaining her that how Jesus established his church and she got more pissed and she almost hit me, but she didn’t because I’m sure if she would have touched me she would have been stricken by the force of God.
It was crazy! After she left, she left running by the way, Eduardo told us he was sorry for that and that in that moment he didn’t know who that girl was because he saw the face of satan in her and I really did feel the presence of evil in her and she just wanted to attack the church, but Eduardo is awesome and we are going to continue to visit him.
Anyway this past week it was 114 degrees to 118 degrees every single day of the week. and it completely sucked! Also the other day I ate 15 tacos of carne asada and I almost threw up, but we were having a contest and another American beat me  – he ate 16 and he’s 135 pounds!!! It was aweome and fun. That completly sucks that Jordan broke his leg. Just tell him the longer he sleeps the faster it will heal and tell him to eat stuff with calcium.  I know how he feels because I wasn’t able to do anything for 2 and a half months last summer and it completly sucked. So I know exactly how he feels! Tell him I love him and I’ll be praying for him!  Also tell him don’t let it get him down, as soon as it heals I’m sure hell be back in the water surfing and will be back skating.
Love all of you! I’m losing more and more weight here. I barely eat because it’s just too hot and I get full on water and watermelon. Everything is good though.  Also this week we ran into 5 people from Honduras traveling up through Mexico on their tour to go jump the border. They are here in the desert and live with this less active family. They just got here 2 days ago and we’re gonna go visit all them on Tuesday, but they are pretty cool. They are all in there 20s. Hopefully they dont die or get shot!  Anyways love all of you and hope y’all have a good week. Bye!!!
