June 15, 2015 – Week 35

It’s been pretty difficult these past couple of days with the heat being 113 and up but we have been pushing through it because we have to do the Lord’s work.

I don’t know if I’m going to go back to Tijuana, but I will find out this Saturday night. Today I turned 8 meses in the mission. Time is going by really fast, but in the 8 months I can definitely see the difference in my life. I’m going to do something a little bit different this week and I’m really going to write this message to Jordan, Lauren, and Madie. Hopefully they can learn from this message and they can be better brother and sisters, children of god, and in the future good husband and wives.
Well you guys already know how I was before the mission, I did a little next to nothing to prepare to go out on the mission. I didn’t even want to go. I was working every single day selling cars and just went with the flow. Mom and dad don’t know this, but I was looking for a new apartment and guess what – I was looking for about 2 weeks and everything in Jacksonville was expensive and nothing came up. Also I was looking for a car, I almost bought a new Charger at the car lot one day, but I realized if I would have come home with that mom and dad would have killed me!
Listen, it was a sign from the Lord that I didn’t find those things, and remember when that Thursday came, it changed my life forever.  I got my mission call to Tijuana Mexico and I was stoked! But here’s what happened, I just went with the flow at first because I really didn’t have any other decisions. But when I went with the flow i ended up here in the mission field. Guys I really didn’t want to serve a mission. I didn’t even knew if this was the place that I should be, but one night I prayed about it in the MTC, and yes it took me that long to figure out where I shoud be, and then I just started working and studying in the MTC and learning and I learned that this is the place that I need to be. I was living off of a testimony of mom and dad and trust me it is strong, and now I don’t have too. I have my own and it came from serving others and making others happy. Through service we become converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I’m still working on my conversion of keeping the Sundays holy, because NASCAR is a hard thing to stop and football as well, but eventually it will come. Siblings, study the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon and the New Testament. There’s a lot of people in the world that read the New Testament and come up with a lot of bull shart and you have to know it to teach people. READ, READ, STUDY, STUDY. I love you all and I’m glad Madie that you are getting your papers in really soon. Jordan as well. Jordan go as soon as you turn 18! I want you to turn 18 in the MTC. Guys I’m out here sweating like crazy in 150 degree heat getting rejected every 10 minutes, and having to deal with people’s BS, and do y’all think I like it… well the answer is no but, I’m doing this for the LORD and to be an example to you guys and I love you. HAZ LO JUSTO, Choose the Right.
This week on Sunday I had to give a pop talk and I had no idea what to say or talk about. I had a feeling to talk about the importance of the sacrament. I kept talking and sharing scriptures and it went really well. When I got done I realized I was pu there for over 25 minutes!! I have no idea how, but it was completely the spirit and it was an awesome experience. I love talking in sacrament meetings, I wish I could speak every Sunday, but now I give the Gospel Principles lessons and it’s great.
LOVE ALL OF YOU AND HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

June 8, 2015 – Week 34

Hey Family, well once again i got a crappy computer and i can barely type on this thing …

Anyway, we had a really good week this week and it was better than the last week. Well, our bikes broke again and so we are walking and we lose a lot of time because our sector is one of the largest here in Mexicali. I lost my camera cord so I can’t send pictures,  but I’ll find it this week and send them all next week.  Last monday we went to Pampas, it’s a Brazilian steak house. They just kept coming around with fillets of meat, it was awesome! I ate about 4 or 5 pounds of red meat, not kidding.
It’s hotter than the 4th of July here and I can barely breathe, but good thing is that the president told me I’m going back to Tijuana soon because he needs me there…whatever that means.  He told me to prepare myself and that’s what I’m doing.  My Spanish accent isn’t getting any better, so I’m reading the Book of Mormon at speed so iI can get it down. I’ve been studying it and reading it slowly but now I need to speed it up. Hopefully I can finish it here pretty soon.
I’m also teaching English at the church on Wednesdays at 6 to about 15 to 20 people and it’s awesome! I’ll send photos here pretty soon. The class is going pretty well and I really enjoy teaching it. Also I teach it to a group of kids outside of our house about 2 or 3 times a week to a group of kids ranging from 4 to 14 years of age. They are awesome and I like teaching.
There was also a special teaching in the 3rd hour of church about indexing and I’m probably going to end up teaching a class on that as well. I’m going to look up everything here on the computer to find out how I can help and I’ll probably teach a family history class on Thursdays at the church and help people take their names to the temple. I was thinking and if im struggling about getting people baptized I can also help people takes their family names to the temple and I can haeve success that way as well, but not take my focus off of the work of the living.
Me and my companion are getting along really well and things are going pretty good. We might have another baptism this Saturday and i hope that everything will go well, pray for my success and my well being.
I love all of you and pray for you every day!! LOVE YOU MORE MOM!

June 1, 2015 – Week 33

Mom and Dad,

It’s literally miserable here just because of the heat. I can’t even take it anymore. It sucks, sucks, sucks. Today it’s 107 degrees and I’m dying. I drink a lot of water every single day like 2 gallons, literally. It’s an oven here and the wind is worst because it’s dry heat.

I had a weird experience this past week in which I haven’t been able to sleep in 3 days. Thursday night we went to bed, said our prayers and went off to bed.  About 30 or 45 minutes later I was just laying there because it’s too hot to sleep and the air conditioner isn’t in our room. I heard some noises in the room and I didn’t think anything of it because I thought it was the air moving papers on the table that we have. Then like a couple minutes later I turned my head to the corner of the room by our bathroom door and there was standing a woman, she had a lot of hair and it was brown and it was really long and she was wearing a black and brown dress. I couldn’t see her face or eyes but she was waving at me, with like a grin on her face, a grin of evil. but i couldn’t see it well. After that I woke up my companion and said that we needed to say a prayer. He got freaked out too after I told him what I had seen so we said the prayer and then we went back to bed. I didn’t sleep at all that night nor the other night until this point. I’m pretty exhausted from this heat and from not getting any sleep. I drew a picture of what I saw and I’m going to send it to you along  with pictures of the baptism we had as well.
And yes we pulled it out – we had a baptism! She is awesome and is so happy! It’s the same person that people stole the battery of her car and her products of perfume. I was able to do the ordinance. It was a beautiful experience. We actually fasted to have her baptized and the Lord gave us that blessing to baptize her! It was awesome and a wonderful spiritual experience, and the absolute hardest fast that I have ever done because that day it was 105 degrees and I almost passed out from dying of thirst. I’m losing a lot of weight because I rarely eat here since it’s too hot and I don’t get hungry.
Yes Mom, I write everyday in my journal and have not missed a day yet! Things are getting better here in this sector and I actually  like it a lot but the president told me that I’m going back to Tijuana because he needs me there. I’ll be going after this transfer. i don’t know why he sent me here in the first place, but it was called of god and he’s a wonderful man and inspiried and I’ll do anything he says. Thanks for the updates Dad. I love all of you and hope you have a wonderful week!!! LOVE YOU MORE MOM!! Te QUIERO!
